My creative contribution (post 4)

Origami is a very cool art form that people tend to like but not all that many try. To be honest I had never even thought about trying it until this project came up. Do people not do origami because it is too difficult or just not interesting enough to keep their attention and entertained. For me it was really the fact that it is a challenge, also I'm not the most artistic person out there. This question interested me enough to do some questioning and ask around.
For my first person I decided to ask my friend who lives next door to me. When I asked if he was interested in origami he said he thought it looked cool, but he went on to say he had also never considered trying it for himself. When I asked why that was he said he didn't really know where to begin. when I asked what he meant by that he explained that certain types of art are easier for him to jump into. For example, Luke said picking up a pencil and drawing something on a sheet of paper seemed easier since origami requires proper folds and planned out ideas. Also, drawing seemed to come naturally to him as it does to a lot of people. But he thought origami was more of a specific talent that not a ton of people excel at.
For my next person I wanted to ask this simple question to a relative to see if they had the same opinion as myself. This wouldn't necessarily mean it was genetic by any means but maybe I had formed my opinion because of it being the opinion of someone I admire and care for. I decided to ask my father the question because I found it to be more likely for this question to be true for males in more cases. When I asked why he had never tried origami his answer was pretty simple, it seemed to require a lot of talent in the field of art. When I explained the instructional step by step videos that can be found online he came to the conclusion that origami is less difficult to learn then he and many others think.
By the end of the few interviews I did on the subject I came to the solution that origami is misunderstood and portrayed as being very difficult. The reason I say it is misunderstood is because people just assume it is hard without even looking into the matter. After doing my imitation for the blog post 3 I would agree that origami is hard at first, but after some practice it becomes easier and is very fulfilling. Drawing something cool is a good feeling, but making something with your own two hands has me feeling some type of way. By the end of my interviews I think I had gotten a really good understanding of males perspective on origami, how they feel about it, and the reasons they had never tried it themselves.
