Jackson Pollock: Reloaded

For my creative field, I chose abstract expressionism. Abstract expressionism relies heavily on techniques that were not used before such as "drip" painting and "splatter" painting. One of the more controversial areas of the art world, many people will jump to the conclusion that this should not be considered art. They feel as though it takes no talent is just chaos in paint.

For my imitation, I focused in on Jackson Pollock's style. His use of contrasting colors and the splatter technique really fascinated me and made me want to see if I could try my luck at it. The splatter and drip technique take a little bit of time to get used to. Unlike conventional painting, it relies partly on luck and partly on experience to get the paint to land just like I wanted. After a few mistakes, I feel as though I was able to accurately recreate Jackson Pollock's style by imitating his techniques.
