Lyrics are Poetry (Reflection): Blog Post 5
Creativity, at least in writing has always been easy for me. Words tend to just pour out without much brain power or effort on my part. With that said I enjoyed this project a lot, it put a new twist on writing that I personally have never really attempted. I've always loved writing but I can't say that the blogging style of writing has always been my calling. I found it to be slightly more difficult and challenging to write in the blog style of writing. The funnest part of making my creative work was letting myself shut my mind off and just allowing the words to pour out onto the computer screen, like I said in class, most of my creative poetry is not preplanned. I sit down in front of a computer or in front of a notebook and just let myself go and wherever that takes me there is always something pretty awesome on the screen or in the notebook when I'm done. So I guess that leads me to "flow", which is something that I achieve pretty much anytime I free-write or anytime I write poetry. There is no better feeling than to love something so much that you forget that you have been sitting in front of a computer writing poem after poem after poem for hours. My chosen field was poetry/music and I feel very connected to this creative field and it is very important to me. Music is something that can connect nations of people and force them to join as one and the same is for poetry. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say, "I hate poetry" and yet they claim to love music. If you love music you love poetry because song lyrics in my opinion are the most well known version of poetry. Poems are the story of someones life and so are song lyrics. I really enjoyed Liam's photos. I liked his idea behind making everyday objects have a different meaning, or a least showing the everyday items in a new light. Photography has always been interesting to me but has never been something that I am very good at. To me creativity is just what you love to do, I don't think there really is or should be a set definition of creativity.
